A Memorial Day Thank You

I am so thankful for my life.  This morning, as we attended our town’s Memorial Day parade at a friend’s home located along the route, I teared up as I thought about how lucky we are to live where we live.  It was MK’s first parade and although it was a short and simple, to be able to watch her clap for the bands, squeal at the delight of catching candy, and to practically have a conniption over the bubbles that the other kids were blowing, enjoying this lovely tradition is such a privilege.  A privilege that I didn’t earn, but other’s have given me by sacrificing so much.

I cannot express how grateful Sean and I are for our freedoms.  The idea that we can attend a church of our choice, exercise our opinions freely through our democratic system, and are able to build our family in a manner that we see fit, are not privileges taken for granted.

To all of the men and women in our armed forces that have given us so much….Thank you!

Our Memorial Day Parade Party at a friend’s house!

    Carolyn,

I have been very interested in surrogacy after a very close friend of mine has been going through a difficult time with trying to concieve, 2 miscarriages, and her son passing away at 4 months old due to complications from his premature birth. I came across your book in looking for other stories by surrogates and quickly came to see how different your situation was that you were not at all a “surrogate” (from your book I know how much you dislike the word! I could not put the book down. I read the whole book this past weekend. I am so inspired by both you and Sean’s willingness to open up your innermost feelings both good and sad and just wanted to say thank you. It is a nice thing to see a couple stay together through so many years, so many pregnancies -both easy and difficult, and so much heartach and still come out of it together. Our situations are no where near the same, but at the same time, similar. I have the age gap in children -my youngest right now is a 2 year old little girl, and our views, and the personality that is shown in your book and blog are so similar to mine I feel like a friend having read the book. I was thrilled when I found out you had a blog to continue with your story and am excited to see your twins are doing well! I look forward to hearing more from your family and wish wonderful things for all of you!
