CATEGORIES: Love This...Not So Much,
This was a “no-boys allowed” week at our house. Although I miss Sean, Drew and Ryan (who are on a man bonding trek through Colorado), the Savage women took advantage of their absence by making the most of our uninterrupted girl time! Make sure you read to the end…the last smile is worth a thousand blog posts!
The first smile…
I’ll spare you a picture of all the organizing I did this week in the spirit of “been there done that” with my post from this past Thursday, but there is one additional project I want to share with you!
It is that of my former crack house gazebo.
The gazebo was built by the previous owners, and when we took possession it was a bit dilapidated. I admit we neglected it for a few years while trying to morph our home’s interior from a Victorian nightmare to a more contemporary Savage chaos, but we eventually got around to giving the gazebo some much needed love! After a little TLC, and a few throw pillows, it has become my place of great respite (aka…Mommy’s place to hide with liquor) .
My second smile…
Simply stated, my bed was easy to make this week. Why? Because Sean didn’t sleep in it. I don’t want you to think I’m not grateful for my husband. I love him….I do. But he fights some crazy-scary demons in his sleep, and as a result, making our bed every morning is like starting from scratch.
Not this week though.
Every morning I just rolled out, fluffed my pillow, straightened the blankets and wah-lah…done!
My third smile…
In the same vein of a chore-made-easier, this week gifted me a vacation from cooking. In fact, the only time I fired up my oven was to make a batch of break and bake cookies that I ate mostly myself. Cereal and chips and salsa have been my dinners! Yay me!
My fourth smile…
Having control of the remote this week gave way to seven consecutive days of trashy tv! No sports, no political talk shows, and no comments from the peanut gallery about the mindless, plotless show I was watching. I may have lost a few brain cells from indulging in too much reality tv, but I must say, after watching the women in this show, I feel much better about myself and pretty much every other woman in my life!
My fifth smile…
Friday provided an opportunity for MK and I to take a drive north, and meet a friend and her lovely children for some good old-fashioned play. We went to an indoor play place, and finished with lunch and some more play at an outdoor playground. MK had a ball (and more importantly…slept like a rock)!
My sixth smile…
Reagan and Isabella didn’t make the cut for the trip to Detroit, so when we arrived home I treated them to a ride on their butterfly rockers. The rockers were a gift when they were born and I’m happy to report that they are finally ready to give them a spin!
My seventh smile…
I received word this week that I will be participating in a weekly segment with NBC’s local affiliate’s morning show! I’ll be appearing on Wednesday mornings with two other lovely ladies as part of a new segment called WNWO Mom’s. Our job? To discuss topics relevant to navigating motherhood without losing your mind (or permanently screwing up your kids)! Be sure to tune in (or most likely…DVR) to watch! We’ll be on at 5:30 and 6:30 am. (Yes…you read that right. I may be appearing in my pajamas!)
My eighth and BIGGEST smile…,
Friday’s trip north had a very special purpose. I cannot express how grateful I am to spend time with my favorite “almost three” year old little boy! He’s as cute and and rambunctious as ever. The reward of hanging out with him and his mom is too great for words.
I’ll let my smile speak for itself!
I hope you treasure every smile worthy moment this week!
