Kickin’ Back at The Beach

CATEGORIES: Love This...Not So Much,
Every year, for one week, I escape with my kids to shores of Lake Michigan. It’s a respite that I’ve grown fond over the years, simply because it’s home. I didn’t grow up here, but that doesn’t seem to matter. I guess it’s not always about the place, but more often about the people… in the place.
My parents moved to Bridgman fifteen summers ago. Ryan was just a baby the first time our toes sank into the sands of Weko Dunes. Ever since, it’s been a place of great solitude, happy laughter, and cousins. Lots and lots of cousins!
Yesterday I had the pleasure of introducing Reagan and Isabella to our family treasure. They couldn’t have been happier. Neither could I!
So pardon my absence of humor and wit. We’re kickin’ back at the beach this week!

Hey Caroline!! ENJOY you vacation!!(if having the girls with you) can be considered a vacation… I love the pictures!! So glad you have this place to escape to… have fun!

You aren’t kidding! Dragging the girls on and off the beach darn near killed me today! A whole ‘nother post!

Of course love the post! Have fun. And you’re right. Home isn’t always where you grew up. Home is where it feels comfortable and for lack of a better word, ‘right’.

Just adorable. When I started reading I thought “WOW she is really going off alone, I can’t belive it!”, then I started seeing the lovely pictures. HA I knew you could not leave those precious babies even for a minute.

Oh my goodness…alone! I can’t even imagine! But wouldn’t trade this beach fun with my girls for anything. Can’t wait to add my big boys over the weekend! They couldn’t come this week. Practice…commitments…jobs. They grow up so fast!

Looks like lots of fun!!! You are a brave woman! Every time I take my boys to lake Michigan, I feel like all I do is count heads, count heads, and then count heads again!!! Love the beach, but it can be a lot of work with kiddos!!! Enjoy what’s left of the summer!!!

Lynette,
You are so right about the constant counting of heads. Beaches are a ton of work right now…but worth every second of the chaos!

I hope you had a lovely vacation! I have to ask about the wagon the twins are in. Where did you get it? Was it easy on the beach? Does it collapse? (Looks like it does!) Do tell!

Hi Sara, The wagon will be featured, hopefully, in a give away later this week on this site! Stay tuned!

I was wondering the same thing, about the wagon… I had never seen one like this (collapsable?) before your post and then we went to Six Flags Great America last week and saw a few of them. Very cool!
