Not So Much…Banned from Taking Pictures of Her Own Child At Sporting Event!

I tripped over this post on Babble.com yesterday and it got me thinking.  Have I ever photographed my kids during a sporting event and posted it online?

Actually…I have.

Recently Drew won his league track championship in the 3200 meter race.  I took a photo of him on the top of the medal stand and posted it on my private Facebook page to share wtih friends and family.  The photo included the other top finishers.  It never crossed my mind that this would be inappropriate.  Is it?

I do admit, I’m careful about the pics I share in social media forums.  Obviously, Sean and I are comfortable sharing pics of our kids with our readership, but I’d never post pics of others (kids or not) on this page without permission.  I do want to respect other people’s privacy.

That being said, banning a mother from videotaping a basketball game so she can send it to grandparents seems extreme.

What do you think?

I try not to post other kids…but sometimes it happens, I was diligent on FB for a long time it was only my kids…I will tag my friends if I get their child in there as well.

I also try not to post my kids names on sites either…

I think most of my FB friends are pretty respectful of other people’s privacy. I actually feel safer with photos on my private FB page then this site.

Thanks for reading and chiming in!

Legally, there is NO right to privacy in a public place. I can LEGALLY take pictures of anything and everything I see, including people, and do whatever I want with them because they’re MY pictures.

I know. That’s why I thought the actions of the league were out of line.

That being said, I do try to limit the sharing of pictures that include other’s children in public forums. It’s a respect thing, I guess.
