Ten Things That Made Me Smile This Week!

I smiled…a lot this week.  In an attempt to focus on the positive (my mantra) I’m going to start recording my weekly smiles here.  An online diary of what makes me happy.  It’s my hope that sharing my more joyful moments will make you smile as well!

The first smile…

I’ve never had a chunky monkey baby before.  Drew, Ryan, and Mary Kate all hovered around the 18-19 pound mark on their first birthdays.  Isabella has already kissed that mark good-bye!  I love her rolls.  They make me happy!

Second smile…

Mary Kate has a soul mate.  Her name is Hailey and whenever they see each other they run as fast as they can to each other, and just before you think they’re going to bury one another in a hug, they stop…and shyly say, “Hi”.  I love that my first girl already has a friend that she adores!

Third smile…

I love playing with the kids in our pool, and frankly, it’s the only place we can play outdoors these days!  We are very, very lucky!

Fourth smile…

My friend Melanie missed her calling.  Instead of a labor and delivery nurse, she should be an improv actress on SNL.  Why?  Among other interesting tidbits, she knows every single word to every song from the 80’s.  Her rendition of, “Let’s Get Physical” by Olivia Newton-John had me buckled over on the 4th!  More to come about her in future posts…I promise!

Fifth smile…

What do you think about parent’s when they name their child something…well…ridiculous?  This week I read a hilarious article about the absurdity of some baby names on Today Moms.  Sarah Maizes wrote it and she is a funny, funny lady.  Read the link.  You’ll laugh.  I promise!

Sixth smile…

This bikini top is hanging in the bushes as you enter our driveway.  It’s not mine!  (I know..you are shocked.)  I’m guessing it was dropped by one of the many teenagers that frequents are backyard these days.  I think the lawn people found it and hung it there to grab our attention.  I haven’t been out to take it down, because I have the attention span of a nat, and forget about it two seconds after I drive by, but every time I see it I laugh.  What must our neighbors think?  (Obviously, I’m not all that concerned!)

Seventh smile…

Reagan loves the water and appears to have no problem getting wet.  We recently retired the infant bath tub (their legs were hanging out of it) and have resorted to sink baths (while they still fit).  Reagan makes quite a mess, but cracks me up every single time!  Watch her bath time antics here

Eighth smile…

That’s a dog in a diaper.  Apparently he has to wear it all day, every day.  Need I say more?

Ninth and tenth smile…

First, let me clarify.  I’m not smiling at the news of divorce.  Divorce is never funny.  That being said, I was going about my normal routine on Thursday morning when the Today Show flashed this pic of Katie and her parents.  They were commenting about how Katie’s dad is helping her, and that made me smile.  Of course he is!  She’s his little girl, and he’s a great person…we know.  The idea that Katie has such a great family to support her at this time makes me happy.  We should all be so lucky!

Why an additional smile about this….

Laying in bed one night this week, Sean and I were talking about Katie’s news when he quipped, “Well, I hope she doesn’t try to come after me now.  Are you worried?”

(You see,  Sean and her older brother are great friends.  Katie was always the tag-along little sister.  Sean swears she had a crush on him when she was a kid.   In fact, he swears Katie married Tom because Tom looks like him!)

Are you laughing now?

You should be!

Happy weekend!

I hope you smile lots!

I think he’s safe! She doesn’t seem like the home-wrecking type. And like Melanie, I too know all the words to every single 80’s song. We could do some rockin’ karaoke! P.S. Chunky naked baby butts make me smile too!

Hi Ali, SHe’s not and her family is the best. Her big brother is one of our closest friends, and her dad navigated the legal quagmire we were in when I was pregnant with Logan (after the mistake at our IVF clinic). They all truly helped us more than we could have ever imagined. Katie comes from great, great people.

    Thanks for the comment!
