Infertility Corner

As a mother of five, it’s hard to imagine that infertility was ever a part of our world—but it was. Although it would seem that the births of our twins and the realization of my dream to become a mother of a large family would mark the end of my battle with infertility, I cannot deny the ramifications my journey to motherhood have had on my life. I’ve learned that once you're an infertile, you're always an infertile. As a result, this section of Mama on The Fly will be dedicated to fertility centered topics that are near and dear to my heart. It will serve as a safe place for readers who are still in the thick of their battles, and aren’t able to read about anyone’s latest kid-centered antics. I will never forget my darkest hours and it’s my hope to offer a soft place to land for others who are walking in those shoes.

My Feelings about Judging An IVF Contest

I was a puddle when Sean entered our family room.  He didn’t notice at first.  My back was to him.  As he flipped on the television, I tried to hide my emotional state from him.   I didn’t want him to see what I had gotten myself into.  Unfortunately, it only took a few minutes for   Read the Rest…

Dear Infertile Friend…My Mother’s Day Gift for You

Dear Infertile Friend,
I wanted to let you know I’m thinking of you this Mother’s Day. Of course, I think of you every day, but on this day, which I know is particularly difficult for you, I want you to know that you’re in my heart.  I imagine,  at times, it may seem that I’m oblivious to   Read the Rest…
